Netflix Kid Series: DreamWorks Spirit Riding Free Review

My kids always get a kick out of it when I host a sneak peek preview party for a show or movie that hasn't hit theatres or in this case Netflix yet. Reason #287 why they love Macaroni Kid. This past week I hosted a Spirit Riding Free Pajama Party with a great group of kiddos. Everyone hopped on the couch with their pj's on, stuffed animals in hand, bowls of popcorn, smiles on their faces and we got to watch two episodes of Spirit Riding Free. This series is about a young girl, Lucky, who has to leave the city and all she knows to move to the country. She quickly befriends a wild horse and names him Spirit. Lucky is joined by two local girls, Pru and Abigail and their friendship grows stronger by the day. Together they face obstacles and bumps in the road just as any young girl would find making the show fun and relatable.

Spirit Riding Free shares the same executive producer as Sex in the City, Aury Wallington, so you know it has to be good. Again she has found a way to create strong empowering young ladies in this kid friendly show with lessons in friendship, confidence and loyalty. Just like Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte did in Sex in the City these three young friends stick together, breaking stereotypes and pushing each other to and sometimes even beyond their limits helping them grow as individuals and as a group. This series will be a wonderful edition to your daughters media library and you can rest assure she will only walk away with the positive messages it reinforces in each episode.

This Netflix Kid Series: DreamWorks Spirit Riding Free premiers May 5th on Netflix so mark your calendars!

If you have a crafty kid then challenge them to create a horse using only pipe cleaners! This turned out to be harder than I expected, but a couple of my guests rose to the occasion and after many tries, fails and retires here are their accomplishments.
