Code Ninjas Children's Coding Center Opens in Tyngsboro

Code Ninjas Teaches Kids Age 7-14 Coding, Robotics, Math, Logic and Problem Solving Skills

May 27, 2018

As interest and demand for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields grow, a new business has come to the area to provide children with the critical skills they'll need for the jobs of the future. Tyngsboro is now the home to Code Ninjas, a learning center which teaches children computer coding. The new center opened last month and has already engaged several students and started them on the path to coding literacy.

Children ages 7-14 from Tyngsboro and surrounding communities can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a fun, non-intimidating way — by playing and building their own video games with peers in a social environment. In addition to coding, children gain skills in robotics, math, logic, and problem solving. The game-based curriculum and welcoming atmosphere enables kids to have fun, while parents see tangible results.

The Tyngsboro location is owned and operated by Chuck and Lora McNamara. Chuck comes from a long career in computer science and software development, and Lora from a background in accounting and business operations. As parents themselves, the McNamaras were drawn to the Code Ninjas concept because of its unique curriculum that allows children to express their creativity in an entirely new way.

“Code Ninjas is a place where kids can have fun while parents see effective results,” said Lora. “Coding is the language of the future. I’m extremely excited to bring this unique concept to my community and provide an amazing resource for our children.”

Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a year-round drop-In learning program, camps, and Parents Night Out events. Drop-in programs have flexible schedules, allowing students to drop in for learning when it's most convenient.  As children learn and master new skills, they progress from white belt to black belt, receiving colored-coded wristbands to recognize their achievements. By the time a child finishes the program, they will publish a real app in the iPhone or Google Play app stores.

Code Ninjas founder and CEO David Graham is a professional software developer who previously owned a successful chain of coding camps for adults. After numerous inquiries from parents, Graham realized there was an unmet demand to teach children coding skills. He launched the Code Ninjas brand in 2016.

"Parents want their children to learn the critical skills that they'll need in the future, but it also has to be fun for kids. Code Ninjas has found that sweet spot where kids have fun and parents see results, and we're truly excited to bring our unique concept to Tyngsboro and surrounding communities," said Graham.
