Family Friendly Walking Trails in the Manchester-Bedford Area

Enjoy being outside while walking with family and friends

By Emily St. Onge, Manchester-Bedford, NH Publisher April 30, 2025

Walking is a fun and free activity to get you outside with good exercise! Depending on the age of your children some trails are harder than others. These four trails, located in the Manchester-Bedford area, are east and ideal for families to enjoy together. I have written a small description under each one with a picture to help you decide if it will work for you.

At the end there are two more walking trails that I have heard about but have not tried yet. If you click on the name of those trails it will bring you to a website that gives you a description of it.

Livingston Park

156 Hooksett Rd, Manchester

Things we love: Livingston Park trail goes in a full circle around the pond. There are many things to look at! The trail is 1 mile long which for us is just enough. There are benches along the path for resting, as well as small areas off to the side where you can sit by the water.

⭐There trail can get bumpy and rough in some spots which might not work with some strollers!

Clough Park

455 Clough Park Rd, Weare

Things we love: We love this walk! We walk right across the bridge and back. It is a short walk but there is a path at the end of the bridge to extend your walk. At the end of this bridge there is a picnic table with a gazebo. You can walk down closer to the water where there is a grassy area for a picnic with a view!

⭐There is typically a porta potty but not always!

Goffstown Rail Trail

155 S Mast St., Goffstown

Things we love: We started this trail at Goffstown Parks and Rec. This trail is flat and runs next to the road but with woods between. We haven't walked the whole path, but it goes 5.5 miles. Along the way there are some benches to take a break on if need be.

⭐There are spots where you have to cross the busy road but there is a light for traffic.

Fairy House Trail at Bedford Hollow

88 North Amherst Road, Bedford

Things we love: This was a really fun trail. It was a short 0.27-mile walk. There were things to look at before getting to the fairy houses. A small bridge to walk across flowing water. When you reach the Bedford Hollows sign, you'll find yourself in an open area filled with Fairy houses. They were all spread out in the area and all different. It is asked that you don't touch or take any part of these Fairy houses.

⭐This trail does get narrow at times. It is an easier walk, but the ground gets uneven with some roots sticking up.

Other trails that I have heard about but haven't walked them yet:

New Boston Rail Trail

Hilldale Lane, New Boston

Joppa Hill Conservation Area Trail

174 Joppa Hill Road, Bedford
