The Jewish Federation of New Hampshire (JFNH) is a resource and contact point for Jews throughout New Hampshire. We seek to create a dynamic community where all who desire Jewish interaction are welcomed. Our Mission: The Jewish Federation of New Hampshire is a statewide organization that connects and engages the wider Jewish community of New Hampshire through meaningful local, regional, and statewide activities. JFNH advocates for the interests of the Jewish community locally and in Israel, raises and allocates resources to enable a thriving and safe Jewish New Hampshire, and partners with the state’s synagogues to enhance and expand Jewish life throughout the state. Some of the programs offered by JFNH include: PJ Library and PJ Our Way: Fostering Jewish Literacy and Engagement Understanding the importance of early Jewish education, JFNH proudly offers the PJ Library program, which distributes free, age-appropriate Jewish children's books and music to families with children from birth to age 8 years. This initiative aims to help families create stronger Jewish homes by nurturing children's curiosity about their heritage and assisting families in exploring their Jewish identity. Building upon this foundation, PJ Our Way caters to children aged 9-12, allowing them to choose from a selection of Jewish-themed chapter books and graphic novels each month. This program empowers tweens to take ownership of their reading choices while deepening their connection to Jewish culture and values. Shlichut Program: Strengthening Bonds with Israel In partnership with The Jewish Agency for Israel, JFNH participates in the Shlichut program, bringing Israeli cultural emissaries (shlichim) to live and work within our New Hampshire communities. These young adults from Israel engage with local organizations, schools, and synagogues, fostering a deeper understanding and connection between New Hampshire's Jewish community and Israel. Campership Grants: Making Jewish Summer Camp Accessible Recognizing the transformative impact of Jewish summer camps, JFNH offers Campership Grants to assist families in sending their children to Jewish overnight camps. These grants aim to make camp experiences more accessible, allowing children to immerse themselves in a vibrant Jewish environment where they can build lifelong friendships and deepen their connection to Jewish traditions. Israel Experience for Teens: Deepening Connections to Heritage The Irving & Bernice Singer Israel Experience Program provides grants to Jewish teens entering 11th or 12th grades for peer trips to Israel lasting a minimum of three weeks. This initiative is based on the belief that such experiences are fundamental in forging a strong Jewish identity among youth. Additionally, the Federation is actively engaged in combating antisemitism through advocacy, education and community support. We have testified at the State House to ensure that our legislators understand the challenges we face. We have worked with law enforcement agencies to enhance security at our synagogues, schools and Jewish institutions. We have spoken on radio, television and in the press to educate the broader public about antisemitism and its dangerous consequences.
